Quick Reminder…

cateyedcrow:

  • The COVID-19 virus has not changed
  • Your immune system has not changed
  • There is no vaccine
  • There is no cure

What’s Different?

  • Fewer government-directed restrictions

That’s literally it: fewer lockdowns, closures, and stay-at-home orders, often due to political pressure.

But COVID-19 is still here. It’s still contagious. People are still getting it. People are still dying from it. Just because it’s not as prominent in the news does not mean that this 2020 story arc has concluded!

Please

  • Wash your hands
  • Continue social distancing
  • Wear a face mask
  • Protect high-risk and vulnerable people
  • Self-isolate if sick, quarantine if exposed
  • Help flatten the curve and contain the outbreaks

Source: I am an actual contact tracer and I just got home from a very long shift where we are having to reach out to more and more and more people as they are exposed to people with positive COVID-19 tests.

Please stay safe.

don’t ever dumb yourself down for people. don’t end long thought processes with a dismissive “if that made any sense haha..” or an “i guess” or a “but idk!” speak your mind, truth, and heart and don’t water yourself down for anyone. your message will be received and understood by those it is meant for, and if not, people who truly care will ask for clarification. you are allowed to have complex thoughts. you dont need to earn your right to speak

Is there a transcript?

“Put a finger down if when you were in highschool you were really good friends with this guy and he invited you over to his new apartment that his dad just got him, and you guys were hanging out and it was really cold in there so you ask him ‘hey could you please turn up the heat’ and he just straight up says 'no’ so you’re like 'okay you’re weird whatever’ and then a little bit later you go to the bathroom and realise 'huh he doesn’t have a shower curtain in his bathroom, this is kind of weird. how does he keep water from getting everywhere? whatever, he’s weird, i don’t care’.

And then his door to his bedroom is always closed so you’re like 'that’s weird. whatever, some people like their privacy’. And then you leave. And a couple days go by and you see him on snapchat buying really expensive bottles and drinking with his brother. And then nobody has heard or seen of his dad in a few days so his mum calls the police to do a [idk..] check and they discover that he murdered his dad, wrapped him in the shower curtain, put his body underneath a box spring in his bedroom, shut the door, turned the heat super low and was still having people over to party with him, and you were in the house with his dad’s dead body and now you have PTSD really bad”

I read this study by @universityofbristol that used ai to model vision in different types of animals.

It makes big cats a lot more terrifying.

Deer and antelope like to hang out with birds, and the birds give warning calls when they spot a predator.

From the deers perspective, the birds must have some psychic ability.

Since deer can’t experience these colors, they probably can’t imagine that predators are a completely obvious color to other animals.

There’s probably a lot of things that we cannot see, don’t have the words for, and don’t have the capacity to imagine, but they exist.

When Everyone Stays Home: Empty Public Spaces During Coronavirus | Via

In cities and regions hard-hit by the coronavirus crisis, quarantine measures and self-isolation efforts have left many public spaces deserted. Classrooms, plazas, malls, sports venues, cafes, houses of worship, and tourist destinations appear eerily empty as people stay home, cancel plans, and await further news.

These are historical photos
